Post-Surgical Treatment

  1.  Consider using an eye shield for 2 days.Female eye specialists determines diopter using apparatus
  2.  Post-op tests recommended 1 day, 2 days, 7 days, 30 days, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after implantation (please see table below).
  3.  Antibiotic and steroid drops x4 for the first week and then as usual.
  4.  Slit lamp examination (watch for synechia).
  5.  IOP.
  6.  Position of lens/pupil: the posterior annular mirror should be fully exposed and in the center of the pupil.
  7.  Refraction: only manual refraction.
  8.  Visual acuity (distance and near): UCVA and BCVA for distant and for near using ETDRS (each eye separately).
  9.  Specular microscopy.
  10.  Record any side effects on each visit.
  11.  Record the effect of light conditions and pupil dilation on vision.
  12.  Medical ocular follow-up as in regular cataract.

Note: It is recommended that the same person who performs the pre-op optical evaluation should preferably perform the optical follow-ups.
